We’ve all been told that it’s better to give than receive, and nurses know this better than others. After all, the profession is all about providing aid to any resident of Glendale and elsewhere, whether they need assistance for a few hours or 24-hour care.
If you also consider yourself a giver and have the letters LNV after your name, you might enjoy being an important part of Accredited Home Care, an organization that provides home health care to clients throughout Southern California.
Since 1980, the skilled professionals who are part of the Accredited Home Care team have been offering an extensive variety of services to our clients. These go beyond nursing and basic medical care and can include specialty skills including massage therapy, occupational therapy, physical therapy and more.
Clients seeking the ability to stay as independent as possible and remain in their own homes rather than needing to relocate to an assisted living facility are able to utilize all sorts of services from Accredited Home Care, including assistance with light cleaning, cooking, even transportation for errands. A variety of skilled home health aides also can help with grooming and other in-home care needs.
Our award-winning organization constantly focuses on doing everything we can to benefit our clients throughout the region, which stretches all the way from San Diego to the San Fernando Valley.
We provide the ultimate in licensed home health and personal care services, which make us stand out from many of the other home health care organizations.
More about nursing
The nurses who are part of the Accredited Home Care organization are especially vital to our success.
In some cases, a nurse may work directly with a client’s family members, their caregivers, or their health care providers to make sure he or she is always receiving optimal care. In other cases, we can provide skilled caregiving service ourselves if that’s what a client needs or wants.
Our nurses provide a wide selection of routine and advanced nursing care, depending on a client’s needs and resources. Licensed Vocational Nurses are especially useful to our organization since they often go beyond basic nursing procedures and medical care to also focus on making sure patients are as comfortable as possible.
LVNs have received training in areas such as bathing and dressing, catheter care, discussing health with patients, their providers. Experienced LVNs may even be asked to supervise other LVNs or other unlicensed medical staff.
The LVNs who work at Accredited Home may be responsible for a variety of tasks, including:
- In-home care management
- Private duty nursing care
- In-home companionship
- Disease care and management
- Respite care
Giving back
Nurses are generally known for their giving natures. It’s a position that often puts them into contact with a wide range of people, including some who aren’t always at their best physically, mentally or emotionally. They may be tired, sore, confused and even scared especially in a clinical situation.
Even in a home care situation, a nurse can still help relieve and reduce many anxieties and make clients feel more comfortable in their own settings. Home is also an ideal place to focus on a variety of therapies including occupational therapy.
Whether a nurse comes to help a few hours a week or is a regular visitor, their services are welcome and appreciated by the clients and by their family members.
This month is a perfect time to learn more about the role nurses can play in the lives of our clients, and how the LVNs will play a significant role.
One of the holidays/traditions celebrated in July is National Give Something Away Day. The celebration takes place on July 15 and people who celebrated are encouraged to find ways to give back. This could take the form of actual possessions that you no longer need or want, but you know someone else will.
Perhaps you recently cleaned your closet and have created piles of clothes you don’t want or need anymore. Other people may appreciate your donation, whether it’s directly giving to others you know or offering to a charity.
Or, Give Something Away can be more abstract, and take the form of looking for opportunities to share one’s time and talents to help others.
