La Mesa Historical Society Christmas Open House

Join the La Mesa Historical Society for their annual Christmas Open House. Spend the afternoon in historic style, featuring traditional, old-fashioned refreshments and entertainment. The Historical Society will provide home-baked cookies, warm apple cider, and other seasonal delights, while classical acoustic guitarist Ian Lawrence fills the event with delightful seasonal music. Additionally, attendees will have the opportunity to win gift baskets and other prizes; raffle tickets are available for a suggested donation of $1.00, with prize drawings at 3:15 p.m.

Coronado Christmas Parade & Open House

Santa has landed … at the Coronado Ferry Landing! Join St. Nick for a festive parade on his way to light the Christmas Tree in Rotary Plaza. Along the way, enjoy carolers, a snow mountain, face painters, and magnificent outdoor ice skating at the Hotel del Coronado, plus a daily holiday light show. Stores on Orange Avenue will join in the merriment with free treats and activities, and the Coronado Community Band will provide fantastic holiday music at a concert following the tree lighting.
Be sure to arrive early to secure the perfect spot, and be aware that Orange Ave will be closed to traffic. On your way to the parade, why not pick up a teddy bear for the Coronado Police Department’s Annual Teddy Bear Drive? With 100 officers representing 15 agencies and in its 26th year, the Teddy Bear Drive collects donations of stuffed animals for the Rady Children’s Hospital. Donation bins will be available throughout the event; guests who donate at the Chamber office will be entered into a drawing to win one of 30 Vintage Cinemas movie passes. Las Posadas is a traditional Mexican Christmas pageant, recreating the journey of Mary, Joseph towards Bethlehem before the birth of Jesus. This celebration dates back over 400 years in Mexico, and variations are performed annually around the globe. This event has been a centerpiece of Old Town San Diego’s Christmas festivities for many years, and the tradition continues in 2016.
