It is officially winter; with the holidays right around the corner, we are starting to feel festive! There are many ways for or seniors in the San Gabriel Valley to harness that seasonal cheer.

Christmas Dinner at the Pasadena Senior Center

The Pasadena Senior Center has been a staple in the community for over 50 years and was one of the first nonprofit senior centers in the country. Today, PSC continues to help improve the lives of older persons through support, social interaction, education, and volunteer opportunities.
Join the PSC community for a day of peace, love, and delicious food! PSC staff and volunteers (and a few helpful elves) come together to prepare a full turkey dinner with all the trimmings and sides, and, of course, delectable desserts. Also, expect a special visitor—Santa will be stopping by with gifts for all!

Holiday Tree Lighting Celebration
Time: 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m.
Location: Arcadia Transit Plaza, Corner of Santa Clara St. and First Ave.
Nothing captures the spirit of the season better than a tree lighting! Join the festivities at the annual Tree Lighting Celebration in Arcadia. Enjoy a full roster of holiday festivities, including carolers, crafts, and a holiday photo booth. The event also includes a full holiday craft market featuring local artisans, handmade items, and cocoa and cookies. Plus, Santa will be on hand to listen to your holiday wish list!
The dedication and tree lighting starts at 5:00 pm and includes refreshment and entertainment. The Arcadia Downtown Street Market runs from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm. The fun continues Saturday at the Snow Festival, 11:00 am – 7:00 pm. If you are able to contribute, donations of unwrapped toys will be accepted on behalf of the Foothill Unity Center. Azusa Christmas Fiesta

San Gabriel Holiday Tree Lighting
Date: Tuesday, December 6, 2016
Time: 7:00 PM
Location: Plaza Park, 428 S. Mission Drive
This year marks the 40th Annual Tree Lighting Ceremony in San Gabriel, and the anniversary offers the opportunity for unprecedented holiday fun! Make magical memories and new traditions while enjoying seasonal performances from local school groups and Community Services youth dancers. Children can join in on a craft session where they will learn to make Christmas ornaments, while kids of all ages enjoy complimentary hot chocolate and good conversation.
The tree lighting occurs at 7:00 pm and will be followed by Santa’s arrival in a vintage fire truck! For more information, please contact Community Services at (626) 308-2875.
San Dimas Downtown Holiday Extravaganza
Date: Saturday, December 3, 2016 (Rain date December 10)
Time: 2pm – 6 pm
Location: Downtown San Dimas
Visit beautiful Downtown San Dimas as it is transformed into a seasonal wonderland! The 7th Annual Downtown Holiday Extravaganza brings a touch of magic to the holidays, filled with events for grownups, grandkids and everyone in between.
Presented by The San Dimas Historical Society, a holiday display featuring local artwork will be available for viewing in the 2nd Story Art Gallery of historic Walker House, originally built in 1887 as a railway hotel and now serving as home to the San Dimas Historical Society. Be sure to visit holiday guests Mr. and Mrs. Claus, who will be available for photo opportunities. The San Dimas Senior Citizen’s Club will also be on hand to provide complimentary snacks at Candy Land Sweet Treats.
For even more fun, join Santa on First Street for a festive horse-drawn hayride or go sledding on the dueling snow slides of Mt. San Dimas! While the kids enjoy the snow, take some time to check a few items off your shopping list at the Holiday Marketplace, featuring hand-crafted items and local artisans. Food trucks will be available for seasonal snacks and tasty treats.
Finally, head down to Bonita Avenue, for more treats, special discounts, and the Downtown Fun Day Holiday Treasure Hunt. Wrap up the evening at Rhoads Park where the Dimas Brass Ensemble will play seasonal classics starting at 5:00 pm while the tree lighting is scheduled for 6:00 pm in the park.
